Hello, hello! I'm super late getting my first projects shared...AGAIN. Ugh. This past week has just gone by so fast that I've not had time to get onto the computer. We head off for our holiday tomorrow so I've been working some crazy hours getting everything sorted so I won't have to worry about it for 2.5 weeks! Anywho, enough with the excuses!
OCTOBER kits are out. October, people! OCTOBERRRRRRRRR! That is freaking me out. We're only a couple months from Christmas. Wha?! Gawd. But the kits...they are AMAZZING! This month I started with the PL kit because I may have been a little stressed out at being a few weeks behind so I'll share that first ;)
My first week is pretty simple - big photo on the RHS with lots of yellow so I figured I'd do some more on the RHS and picked cards to match ;) This was our last week of football so I had to make it a feature (part sad it's finished, part happy we get our weekends back for a little while haha).
Actually used the alpha's from the Add-on kit here too - that gold foil on timber veneer totally suckered me in and I just had to include them! ;)
My second week features another big 6x8 pocket - included an award Zack had received at assembly. He's pretty darn proud of this one - math is Zack's thing, he loves it :)
On the RHS I went picked one of my favourite patterns included in the 6x6 papers and popped a little photo of the kids ontop by using those corner embellishment included in the Sprinkles Kit! So cute. Then I just popped a big photo of a recent scrappy-room purchase (those shelves from Kmart, finally got them!) on the opposite corner and popped a foam heart on top.
I love the hand lettering on the "all the small things" card!
For my last week I brought in a bit more colour! I have to admit I love the brighter pages more than those that are less so. Colour just makes me happy I guess.
I'm finding I really like using a large 3x4 photo on one side and grouping it with a journal card opposite. Not to say I don't like including the words/stories in my spreads but I just love the photo's - and as I was flipping through my older albums, that's what got my attention - the stories are great and funny to read, but I love the piccies :)
This week I had a small insert too - we had a postal vote in Australia and I wanted to include it in the album - in 10 years it'll be interesting to look back on :) I used a couple little tabs on the side and popped the tag ontop. I used a random brad and stuck one of the enamel dots ontop (complete luck that it was the perfect fit, ha!).
I'm really enjoying this style of memory keeping - I thought perhaps I'd get behind and give up, but so far so good. I think between the smaller size and not having to worry about filling pages every single week it's a much easier and less stressful project ;)
Thought I'd do a quick little flip through and share it too - from start to finish. I still need to do something on our cover page, I just don't know what to do though! Any ideas? I just picked random cards for now but I need something better!
Thanks for stopping by today! I'm taking the next week off to enjoy the warmer weather so I'll share my next few layouts when we're back :)
Take care, Em xo
