Hi friends! Hasn't this month just gone by in a blur?! Crazy to think tomorrow is February! (Oh-my-lawd) I've been lucky enough to have the past week and a half off work (to enjoy Zack's last week of holidays and take him to school for the first week - today was his first day - he was SO nervous!).
I am still waiting for my February kits to turn up (I may be stalking the online tracking and it's not moved in 2 days, ahhhh!!!) so I thought I'd have a bit of fun using the January kits and join in with Anna's 3-To-Inspire challenge from this past weekend. Her prompts were so fun and this page actually surprised me by coming together pretty quickly! The hardest part was finding how to incorporate the 3 pattern papers ;)
OH! But before I share my page I'm excited to say I finally picked up one of the WRMK Typecast Typewriters!! I have been adding/removing this from my shopping cart for a while now (anyone else do that? haha) and although I really wanted a white one, they only had the black left so I went with that. It's super cute! The font is a bit bigger than what I'd usually use on my pages (when I print it out from the computer) but I'll get use to it. I love just feeding the paper/cards in and typing straight onto it, super quick and easy! Just need to work on making less mistakes ;)
I love that it's small enough to leave out on the desk without taking up all my space (and it's light enough to move around if I have to!). My old typewriter was a beast of a thing, took up so much space which is why I started printing it out via the computer. This little guy is perfect ;)
Anywayyyyyys - enough of that - onto my layout! And here it is!
I've used the January Pocket Life and Embellishment kits (oh and a heart die-cut from the Add-on) along with Decembers Embellishment kit (lots of Crate Paper Good Vibes on this one!).
This page started with all the die-cuts/chipboard pieces layered around my photo. I'd adhered some of the white pom-pom trim to that die-cut for another page weeks ago but didn't end up using it then, but it's a perfect match for this page!
I'd centered my layered pieces on the page then stood there for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get 3 patterned papers onto the page. I played with more layers, cut out some square & circle shapes but ended up going with a simple border at the bottom and an angled one at the top! I cut little strips of 2 papers then stuck them onto a scrap piece of white cardstock on an angle. Originally I had planned to have an even border at the top (to match the bottom) but as I was cutting the little strips off, I kinda liked how it looked so I went with the jagged look instead.
And the last thing I had to add to the page was the thread! Now stitching on a page I can do, but adding random bits of thread/twine? It always looks so odd when I do it... (Anna always makes it look like it matches in perfectly when she adds it to her pages!). So I went the easy route and did a little bit of machine stitching and tucked a bit of white cotton behind one of my chipboard pieces.
Then I just added a few more chipboard / sticker pieces around the page to balance out the gold and it was done! This really was such a easy page to put together using the 3 prompts (I think it was around 40 mins start to finish which is lightening fast for me!).
Have you tried the 3-To-Inspire challenge? They are my favourite, I lovvvve them! I'd love to see your take on this one too! Be sure to share it on the CTK Facebeook Fanpage!
Well I'm off to pickup Zack from his first day (cross fingers it's been a super duper one!). Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care, Em xo
