I have had a blast playing with this month's Fields of Gold (SB main, piccy below) and XO (SB embellishment) kits. The colours are just gorgeous! I've managed 6 layouts so far and have plans for atleast another one, if not more. Which should be no surprise given that there is a bit of pink in the kits for me to play with!
I'll share the first three layouts I made in order of how I made them. I always find it interesting to see how people process the different pieces from a kit and then decide what to use first up, etc :) I'm weird like that...
The first layout I created didn't have pink! Quite neutral though. I really wanted to use the fabric strip - even though I have a love/hate relationship with fabric on my layouts (I absolutely love the idea of using fabric but usually hate what I do with it lol). For this I just ran two (2) strips to separate the patterned paper from the white backing and ran a strip of vellum (from my stash) in between. I just ran my trusty sewing machine over each layer to keep them in place.
Funny story this one. I cant remember where he got the idea from but while he was meant to be sleeping, he decided to give himself a tattoo with pen. Not a biggy really but he'd had his bath (so he was all clean, which can sometimes be quite challenging...) and it was late. Soon as he walked in to show me I frowned (which got him upset...bad mum..) but then I read it and I just cuddled him super tight. "I love mum. She is good. Your a friend. She is a cool mum". I mean, how much fun am I going to have 10 years from now using this?! So I snapped some photo's as proof, washed it off and sent him straight back to bed ;)
After my first layout I felt the need to use some PINK. Which meant breaking out photo's of Miss M again! So glad I have a niece that doesn't hate her photo being taken :)
I stuck with a grid for this one. Journaling is hidden behind the photo. Again. I know, haha. Because my layouts are 6x8 I find that having the journaling hidden behind the photo (or on the back of the page) allows me more space to use up all those pretty little things I like to put on a page.
The fabric brads from Maggie Holmes Open Book collection are just stunning. I usually struggle to use them on layouts but I really like the little group of them there filling that square of the grid! And that top left paper (On My Desk "Daydreamer" by Gossamer Blue) is my absolute favourite - I looooooooove it. I'm hoarding the little bits of off-cuts I have left.
For my third layout (and last one I'll share today!) I thought it only fair to document my first kit as part of the 2015 Design Team! I mean what kind of scrapbooker would I be if I didn't scrap a layout about designing layouts for a scrapbook kit club? Err, you know what I mean, haha. More of my favourite paper. Its just so happy.
Brought in splashes of yellow to match the paper for this! The twine at the top actually came from the kit packaging. Not sure if Trina meant for it to match it but it was a perfect, so onto the layout it went. And those dotted arrow veneers are awesome, hoarding the remaining pieces I have :)
And that's it! For now :)
On a more personal note. Renovations are 95% done, hooray! We're staying inside (hot and windy today, yuck) with the AC on and continuing with the unpacking. I swear we seem to have accumulated extra boxes from somewhere... Almost done though and hopefully the painters are here next week which means we can finish moving in properly! Office is mostly set up but I'm keeping everything off the walls so the painters can get in, which means it looks....odd haha.
Wow, long post! Hope I haven't bored you :) Please do go over to the CTK website and check out the gallery. The other girls have created some amazing projects (that put mine to shame, lol). Have a fantastic (and safe) weekend!!
