Hello, hello! Hope your weekend has been a wonderful (craft-filled?!) weekend. It's Sunday night here so I'm getting ready for work tomorrow, booo! Weekend went by in a flash as usual; although I did get some crafty time in and even managed a few more rows done on the wool blanket I'm crocheting (started another one, it's gonna take me foreverrrrr to finish, ha).
Today I'm up on the Citrus Twist Kits blog with today's Sunday Sketch. I am really enjoying the gorgeous colours of the April kits and have been busy, busy, busy getting my layouts together (I'm a little behind schedule this month, ugh - story of my life lately..). BUT using the sketch this week was a huge bonus - takes the brain work out of the creating (design already done!) and speeds things up so much for me. I really ought to use them more ;)
Hope you'll swing by the CTK blog to read more (and join in for your chance to win prizes!!!).
Thanks for stopping by (as always, I really appreciate you taking the time xoxo). Take care, Em xo
PS - Can I just say I love that rainbow? It's just the cutest puffy sticker ever and I wish there were more of them included in the pack, haha.
I've had a few people ask what my process is for creating layouts. As you know, I don't usually put alot of thought into what I'll use or actual design I'll follow - I just grab a photo then I pick things I think work with it. However when I sat down today to work on a layout for this weeks Sunday Sketch, I thought I'd snap some photo's along the way to show how my odd little brain puts it all together.
This is what I ended up with:
I went a bit off skew with the actual sketch. I fully intended to keep to the grid like the sketch (and Kelly's layout, which I really, really love!) , but as usual, it just didn't finish up that way ;)
Below is slide show of my layout from start to finish. I apologise for the quality of photo's - my camera died after the first couple so the rest were taken on my phone and the lighting isn't the greatest today. Why is it your camera batteries always die just as you're planning to use the camera for prolonged periods of time... only takes 30 minutes to charge but I couldn't wait, haha.
And here are some closeups of the finished layout (using the real camera as it was well and truely charged by the time I finished, lol):
I hope you're having a great weekend! Tomorrow Zack and I thinking about going to one of the nearby country markets for the morning. Lots of goodies for us both to look at and there is a van there with the best hot jam donuts :)
Well I had a really productive day! House cleaned top to bottom and finally got the bathroom walls painted! Took longer than I was expecting, but the first coat is done and I'll slap another one on tomorrow and hopefully call it done! So to reward myself for actually following through on the painting for a change (I've wanted to this this for um, months...maybe a year? hah), I gave myself the night off from cooking, put Twin Peaks on and finally completed a Sunday Sketch! Seems like forever since I tackled one of the Sunday Sketch challenges. Such a slacker ;)
This week's sketch was heaps of fun to play along with. I was able to use a bunch of those little bits and pieces that I keep hoarding for something or other.... Seem to have 5 various bowls of "little bits" on my desk these days, really need to use them up more!
The background cut file was actually meant for a completely different layout but it had been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks doing nothing, so I figured the layout I planned in my head was clearly a flop and I chopped it up to fit this. I actually kinda like how this one turned out :)
Finally sat down and did finished last weeks Sunday's Sketch (new one already up, eek!) - been meaning to do it all week and kept doing who knows what instead.. Only little different than the sketch, stuck with one photo instead of two.
Proudly designing for:
