** Warning - Image heavy post :) **
Finally finished my little mini book AND got the photo's edited, wohoo! So figured I'd best get it blogged before I got completely distracted by my Christmas mini, lol. I feel like I was working on this book for ages. In reality it was a few weeks, which is kinda slow, even for me! But it's all done now and I'm super happy how it's finished up. I really do love making these little books; I find them so fun to put together (even when they drag out like this one did!). I wish I had more exciting things going on in our life so I could create more, haha.
Just a quick stop to share a new layout about my favourite month of the year! October is my fave - weather is spot on (not too hot, although we've had some 30+ days already, eww) and the days get longer with daylight saving kicking in. I usually catch the sunrise on the way to work and its awfully pretty so here's a page to remember it ;)
Used my October kits from Studio calico on this one. The background is actually a cut file, the word October repeated over and over, out of vellum then just stitched in place :)
Those circle chipboard pieces are kinda awesome too. Love that I could use the negative piece (once I took all the circles out) on a page - perfect size for me!
Hope your week has been a great one! Only few more days to my holiday break then I'm back at work. Boo. BUT my November Citrus Twist Kits arrived today and OH MY GOSH! Yummo! They are the reason I'm keeping this short - want to go and get started with those haha.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, Em
My dear friend Anna decided to set ourselves a little challenge to use hexagons on a layout (well to be honest, I challenged her then I figured I should atleast play along). Trick was to use them in a way you've not done before. Thankfully I've only tried them once for the CTK Sunday Sketch so was easy to mix it up this time!
I was a teeny bit lazy for this one, I hand-cut all the hexagon shapes...could have fired up the silhouette and got them all nice and even but I don't mind the wonkiness :) And its therapeutic sometimes to just cut paper with scissors, imagine that! Finally took a look at the July Fairground SC kit for this too - unpacked it week or so back but had not had a chance to do anything with it. Fun patterns, although I used the 6x4 paper pad so they're a smaller scale.
Hope your week has been a good one so far! Tomorrow is hump day then its only 2 to go. Always counting down to the weekend. Always :)
Take care and thanks for stopping by!
Sorry for no linking up to Anna or previous posts - my blog is being difficult and rather than sit here growling at the computer I'm just gonna leave it!
I've been incredibly slack with layouts this past week or so. Life has been busy. Work got crazy as it always does when you're gearing up to take a couple weeks off (how is it clients seem to know that NOW would be a perfect time to go ahead with that big project seeing as how you wont be around for 2 weeks?!). And then we had the painters in causing chaos with the house again.
But painters have gone. Our house walls/doors are all painted a gorgeous white that makes me smile all the time. Managed to get work under control and now I have 2 weeks holiday! WOHOOOOO! So excited. We pack up tonight and head off for a few days up to Moama. Not much there except NO WORK, which is the most exciting thing ever. Lots of reading by the pool while Zack jumps around like a mad man. Can't wait :)
Finally sat down today and put a layout together; mainly because I was feeling so guilty for not having done anything in the new office. We've gone and made this amazing room (that I love!) and I haven't been using it. Ha. So today I did and this is what I came up with:
Grids are my go-to when I'm stuck. They are timeless, and so easy to work with. My real challenge for this one though was to use the fruit transparency shapes from SC's Far Far Away SB kit. Fruit on a layout, well fruit shapes in general, are not really my thing. They're kinda cute, but on a layout? Kinda weird but I did it anyway. And, shock horror, I actually like it.
The photo's are actually quite recent, as in, taken yesterday morning. Zack always likes to come in and wake me up, then we goof around and tell silly jokes or stories. Usually there are tickle fights and sometimes we take silly selfies. I've got journaling on the back (just printed it onto a 6x4 PL card and stuck it on the back).
Well we're off for a week of relaxing before Zack starts the new school year (I've taken his first week off as well so I can do the dropoff/pickup thing). He's super excited for the "family how-widay" as he calls it.
I hope your week is fantastic one!
