A very merry Christmas to you; I hope your day was all you dreamed of and more! We had a quiet little lunch-that-turned-into-dinner with just the family (me/zack/mum/dad/bro/sis-in-law/niece) - was an "awesome day" (as quoted from Zack) and everyone was exhausted by the end. As such, today has been our day of rest, haha. Oh there was cleaning first. But then lots of resting ;)
I forgot to pop by last week and share a few more of pages from Christmas Daily album so I figured I'd do it now, better late than never! I'm planning to finish the album off tomorrow - Zack's headed up to his dad's for a little a Christmas-party there so I can be guilt-free about spending hours in my room working on our album! ;)
As mentioned before, there is no date order for my album - I'm just filling in pages as I want. These spreads are mostly about our elf, Freddie. I may be slightly glad he's gone back to spend time with Santa and wont be returning for a whole year. That little dude is work. Next year I have to plan it better. Ha!
It wasn't all sunshine and roses - Zack had a particularly bad day and received a warning from Santa...Freddie also sent him a letter which I've put inside the red envelope (it's not a bad letter, was just something that reminded him of all the good he had done during the past week so he didn't get hung up on the warning...which was totally deserving though...). Zack has absolutely loved this elf and the excitement on his face every morning was totally worth all the late nights getting it organised (because I didn't plan ahead of time and always left it until I was about to go to bed....lol). He still believes in all the magic of Christmas so it's been alot of fun, part of me wishes I'd started it earlier - the other part is glad I didn't. So glad. ;)
And that's it for now! I'm really looking forward to finishing it off tomorrow. I've got some of the photo's and journaling already printed which will speed it up! Editing is one of my least favourite things to do ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, Em xo
Finally getting around to posting some of the pages I've created using the CTK December kits! Only a week late. Ugh. I'm blaming the whole Christmas thing. So busy being all Christmasy that I forgot all about the normal stuff!
Anyway, enough blabber - here are the first three pages!
I love, LOVE that paper from Maggie Holmes'. I wanted to play on the circle shape so the planets so cut each of the letters out using a circle punch but you could totally have just left the paper as it was (unless you scrap 6x8 like me, then you'll need to chop it up, ha).
There is not a whole lot of embellishing on this one, just used the enamel dots were similar in colour and printed my journaling on vellum (from my stash). It's super simple and yet I love it; I think it's my favourite page so far ;)
Next up is a page I made about Miss Makayla's 7th birthday and the add-on kit this month is a perfect match! I fussy cut the streamer/ribbon's (which I rarely ever do, lol) to match the colours in the stickers. For soe contrast I went with the black/white strips and stitched them on angles.
More enamel dots (again picked because they matched the 3 colours of the stickers, I'm a simple person) and it was done! Another easy one :)
And last but not least is a page about myself. SHOCK! Had to get some new glasses and figured I had to make a page about it.
The alpha's are from the Pocket Life kit and they're so fun. I backed them up with a few of my favourite 6x6 papers in the kit, added a stitched border (notice it's not in white for a change?!), stuck a few of those veneer stars on and bam! - another page done. Kind of ironic, but I know my pages all look super simple - and they should theoretically take like 10 minutes to create...but they never do! Ever. It takes me so long to do simple, hours people...I know you're looking at it and thinking - ummmm, how and why.....
I really wish I could get better at making stuff. And by better I also mean faster!
And that's it for now.
I'm still working on my Christmas album (really enjoying the process this year!) so I'll be back to share the next couple pages tomorrow. Unless I forget. It's totally possible. Haha.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, Em xo
Hi lovely people!
Just wanted to swing by and share the next couple pages in my Christmas Album. As per my previous post, I'll be sharing my pages along with a fun little challenge up on the CTK Facebook Fanpage so please be sure to stop by and check it out!
I've only added another couple pages this week - we've not done a whole lot. Well I may have gone a little nuts making more Christmas tree's. I'm obsessed with them and I don't know why, lol. Mantle is full but I just want to make more! I'm crazy I know.
Anyways, here's a look at the pages I've added ;)
Oh I forgot to mention I love candy canes. Well actually we all love them. I know they're bad. But they are yum. And it's Christmas. HA!
I added a little version of the fabric tree's in my album this week - even added a little stuffing in the centre. Yeah, it adds a bit of bulk to the album but I don't mind it ;)
Candyyyyyyyyyy cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnes. I'll fill that jar maybe a couple times before Christmas. Is that bad? HA ;)
And that's it for now! I'm really happy how the album is coming along and I'm not feeling stressed at all about missing days - because we've not done anything special so anything I would put it would feel forced, and that's no fun at all.
OH! I totally forgot to share details about my cover last week. Had a few people message and ask. I actually had this custom made. I used a cut from from The Cut Shoppe (last year's Christmas release - love this cut file!) and resized it to 5x7 then had a local laser cutting mob cut 2 in a frosted green acrylic. They wern't "cheap" but I don't think they were expensive either , I wanted something unique ($35 for 2 acrylic covers, front/bank + postage) and I love how they finished up (although in hindsight I might have wished I'd gone with a white/opal acrylic lol, but the green really is pretty in person!).
I would love to hear if you're joining in on the Christmas/December Daily craziness! Link up your photo's/blog so I can see and get all inspired!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care, Em xo
December 1?! Seriously? Ahhh! ;)
Today is the first day of the Citrus Twist Kits Christmas Daily Inspiration project on the Facebook Fanpage and I'm so excited to start the month off by sharing a few of my pages! If you've not been to the Facebook Fanpage, please go visit, there will be inspiration and challenges every day up until Christmas from a number of amazing contributors (not sure how I managed to get involved though lol) and I've set a fun little challenge for Day 1!
I actually started my album a little early this year and I'm not working on it in a daily or weekly schedule. This year it's about setting no rules, I'll get pages done as I feel like it and that is going to be enough. Any story recorded is better than none :)
Most of my pages feature goodies from the CTK Christmas kits but I'm also digging into my stash and using things from last year (and the year before) that have been sitting around for a whole year just waaiiiting to be used.
OK, enough babble - onto the first first few of my Christmas album!!
I know it's still early days but I'm really enjoying this album this year - it was fun to start things a bit early and I'm not feeling the stress that I usually do because it's OK if I miss the next X amount of days. I don't have to have a photo or story for everyday!
I have to confess that having this little guy peek out from the top of the album is my favourite thing so far though. I picked up the clips from Spotlight (there is also a Rudolf and Gingerbread Man one!) and they're super cute.
I'm also adding a few non-paper "pages" in my album this year. I love different textures in albums to I created this little pocket using a bit of material I had and I've put Zack's letter to Santa inside! Well it's a photocopy of the letter....the original was posted to the main man a few weeks back ;)
And that's it...for now! As for the rest of the album you can see underneath, it's just basic page prep, nothing special....yet! I'll be sharing a few more pages/challenges over the next 25 days on the CTK Facebook Fanpage so I hope you'll keep following along there!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Take care, Em xo
