Thought I'd stop in quickly to share a few sneaks of my August layouts! Still working on a few more (getting into a bad habit of having 2 layouts on the go at once...) but here's what I've got so far:
These are main kit only:
And this one is Main and Embellishment!
I was slow to get going with my August kits but once I got started, things just came together so easily - I love the pages I've made this month! Now I best get cracking on the rest of my layouts - not long for reveal now! July has seriously just flown by for me...crazy!
Hope your week is a great one, thanks for stopping by!
Last week I finished up my scarf and I have to admit I'm just a little bit happy :) First time crocheting and I actually finished it! It's so crooked that you just have to shake your head and laugh when you look at it stretched out, but I don't care and I've been wearing it everywhere, ha. Bonus is that you cant even tell once its wrapped around your neck anyway!
And naturally I had to make a layout about it! I just used whatever random bits I had lying around for this one, stuck with the pinks because I loveeeeee it. Always the pink. And gold. And whites.
Went with an easy 4 square grid. Grids are one of my go-to's. So easy to work with.
I umm'd about that kite for ages. It's not exactly fitting for the layout but it just..worked! Colours and shape just fit. I was playing around with a bunch of die-cuts and soon as I put it on I liked it but given the layout has absolutely nothing to do with kites, I took it off and kept looking. After hours (seriously) of looking and trying a heap of things, I couldn't find anything else that worked so I ended up just using it anyway! And I kinda like it, fitting or not :)
Those gold alpha's are from Maggie Holmes' Confetti line and they are just so pretty. And I love the fact that there are a bunch of each letter to use (wont need to go buy multiple packs, ha).
And that's it! This layout was one of those things that seemed to take a while; kept playing with it a bit then walking away and leaving it until the next night, and so on. The kite thing really did my head in lol. I guess it doesnt help that I've also started my next crocheting project - a granny square blanket! Going with solid squares in a rainbow of colours! It will probably take me forever to finish but that's the way this crafty thing seems to go sometimes ;)
Thanks so much for dropping by! Hope your week is a great one!!
So I finished Paige's class already! It was awesome and I highly recommend it, not matter what style you have. I really enjoyed the challenges.
I've started my next class over at Big Picture Classes - going with Jen Chapin's RAINBOW! Looks so bright and cheery doesn't it?!
First lesson is done and I had so much fun! Needed: stencil, watercolours, water brush! And coffee. That last one is not on the class list as such, but absolutely necessary when playing with new things so you can sit there drinking and staring at blank pages while you figure out what you are going to do.
Not a big user of the stencils or watercolours, but as luck would have it, I had both! And a water brush! (Yeah, I like to collect "things", even when I'm not sure where I'll use them - turned out to be a good thing in this case!)
One I had my stuff ready to go it was just a matter of playing around! The page I ended up with was actually attempt #3 of the same page...as I've mentioned before, I don't plan much so I just started painting one, didn't like it, tried another, didn't like that either so tried another and BOOM! Happy :)
Ended up with this:
I have to confess I'm not in love, love with the layout. I really like it, but its just....different! Although in all honesty, if someone else had made this I'd probably love it, however its made by me so I'm super critical, lol. I'm my worst critic by far.
And that is by no means a reflection on the class, because its awesome. As soon as I finished this one I jumped into the next lesson which has me using STAMPS! My fave! LOL.
I'm really enjoying taking the classes, although only my second at BPC, they are like a breathe of fresh air; trying new things, breaking out of my "norm". Heaps of fun :)
Thanks for stopping by. Hope your week has been an amazing one and continues to stay so :) Stay safe!
I'm up on the CTK blog today sharing a card and layout I made using a couple items I picked up from the store this month! Hope you'll swing by and check it out!
