So this month as part of the Sandlot reveal the CT team each picked a member to do a lift from and imagine my surprise when Kelly asked if she could pick me?! Me?! Really?! Ahh, yes! (I may have been just a little bit excited in my response, may have freaked her out, lol).
Kelly is one of my faves - I have ooh'd and ahh'd over her layouts many a time (every month...) and I'm so honored she would pick me out of all the amazing talent in the SC gallery! I love Kelly's lift, she totally made it her own.
And this is mine:
And I must say all the lifts done by the CT team this month are amazing. I love seeing how they all took a members layout and put their own spin on it. Check out the CT gallery here.
I can't wait for this month's kit. I managed to snag Jet, Smalls, Yeah Yeah and Repeat. Soooooo looking forward to new goodies arriving :)
This weeks challenge is up and we're being asked to NOT use any patterned paper. Not even a teeny bit.
I kept it super simple. Finally used some old stash and used something other than white cotton for a change. Quite the dare devil I know... ;)
Journaling hidden under the photo again. Its funny, I used to be happy doing a layout without any kind of story to go with it. Whack a date on it and call it done. But now I feel it's not finished unless I put a couple sentences down . Sometimes its on the layout (either visible or hidden like this) OR I hand write the words on the back of the layout. I'm not overly fond of my own handwriting so its not something I photograph (and therefore share), but I do jot something down so when I'm old and grey it might help me remember a bit more than the photo does on its own. Do you always include a story?
Hump day here. 2 more until the weekend. Not that I'm counting.
Well I had a really productive day! House cleaned top to bottom and finally got the bathroom walls painted! Took longer than I was expecting, but the first coat is done and I'll slap another one on tomorrow and hopefully call it done! So to reward myself for actually following through on the painting for a change (I've wanted to this this for um, months...maybe a year? hah), I gave myself the night off from cooking, put Twin Peaks on and finally completed a Sunday Sketch! Seems like forever since I tackled one of the Sunday Sketch challenges. Such a slacker ;)
This week's sketch was heaps of fun to play along with. I was able to use a bunch of those little bits and pieces that I keep hoarding for something or other.... Seem to have 5 various bowls of "little bits" on my desk these days, really need to use them up more!
The background cut file was actually meant for a completely different layout but it had been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks doing nothing, so I figured the layout I planned in my head was clearly a flop and I chopped it up to fit this. I actually kinda like how this one turned out :)
So last week I got a happy email from the gorgeous Maggie asking me if I would be guest designer for this week's Society52 challenge..... Um, me?! Yes, yes, yes!
This week's challenge is a really good one too, I got lucky! Just use a banner or banners on your layout.
The twist this week?! To add atleast 3 circles to your layout.
Now that one kinda stumped me. I grabbed the punches, sequins, chipboard pieces, enamel dots, whatever I could find that was round. Ended up settling on some simple veneer circles. I know; so plain! But it's what I do ;)
It's Friday night here and I am so ready for the weekend! Planning to get a new coat of paint in the bathroom up and Zack is going to "help". That outta to be fun. Ha!
Hope your weekend is a good one!
