Hi lovelies! The week's just seem to be flying by at the moment. I keep meaning to sit down and be more consistent with blogging on this little space but 1 - I'm hopeless, 2 - by the time I get Z-man in bed and get myself ready for work its after 9pm and I'm brain dead (ironically though it's 10pm now lol) and 3 - I'm hopeless.
But all that aside I'm excited that I have a new layout to share! I've been sitting on this for a little while and been dying to post it. I love, love, love the new acetate sheet from Dear Lizzy's new Happy Place collection. I've used it in a mini, my planner and now a layout. It's all gone now :( But you can bet I'll be getting myself more!
OK enough blabber - the page!
Ahhh! Look at those colours! So, so pretty.
I teamed it up with gold foil using the Minc. I love that machine. It's seriously in my top 3 scrap-booking investments of all time (#1 being my sewing machine, lol and #2 being the computer). I could just gold foil everything.
So the story behind this page is Zack's new "computer only one day per week" rule I brought in a few weeks back. Truth be told he was only able to get on the computer on non-school nights (with the occasional weekday if he had a super-star day at tennis or swimming) but he was just so addicted to it. It's so easy to just let him get on the computer (because let's face it - him on the computer gave me quiet time,..) but it was all he could talk about. So I'm forcing him take a step back; there are more important things in life than mining diamonds in Minecraft. Now he can have the laptop to watch movies in my room (because I don't have a TV in here) but that's it.
And it's been a good change. He's hanging out with me more which I love. Using his imagination more. Drawing, painting, reading, playing outside. Oh and talking, talking, talking, talking. Sometimes the talking never stops, haha.
And there you go. First layout using the new Dear Lizzy line and I'm totally in love with Happy Place. Colours of everything are just HAPPY!
Hope your weekend is an amazing one. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Take care, Em xo
I am up on the CTK blog today sharing a few quick tips on how to make your own cute embellishments using some of the goodies from the February kits! Hope you'll swing by to check it out ;)
Thanks, Em xo
I don't have a new page to post yet, so thought it might be fun to share some random photo's throughout the last week or so.
I LOOOOOOVE my new tassel garland. I do, I do, I do, I do! The rainbow is an instant happy maker ;)
Although this shelf unit is bugging me. Need to do something with it...just not sure what...
Making another rosette garland for a dear friend. All done now. Just need to get a box big enough to pack it in and send it on it's way!
Zack's decided he likes to hang in my room now which means sharing my main scrappy desk....
...until I went and got another big desk for the sewing machine! I gave him a little spot in that corner where you see the laptop. A full room to myself and I give him that corner spot...am I generous or what? Ha! On a serious note though, he still swings around and faces me, like the first photo above...so he can look at you when he's talking....which he does non-stop... I wanted a bigger desk to match the others anyway; Zack was my excuse to get one :)
Looking forward to relaxing this weekend. Hope your weekend is a super one!
Thanks for stopping by.. Take care, Em xo
I have to start this by saying I am no card marker, but I'm lucky enough to have some lovely friends that think my cards are kinda cool. And I think they're awesome because they like anything I make, haha.
They are super duper simple - get some happy papers, team it with a few die-cut words and BOOM - card is done! Haha.
I loooooooooooooooove that pink striped paper (actually the B side of "Bahama Mama"). I've almost used the full sheet, definitely going to need more of it :)
Also added my own envelope liner just to make it prettier! ;) (B-side of "Cherry Cherry"). Can I just add that I love all the paper names of this new line lol.
Created my own ruffle from crepe paper streamers. Who knew they were so easy to make?! I want to make them using all the colours now (going shopping on the weekend to stock up on more colours lol).
Teamed the paper and ruffle with a die-cut from Happy Things and called it done. Super easy right.
For the next card I followed the same formula. Added another die-cut word (this one came from the Watercolor Words from Dear Lizzy's Serendipity line) plus a flower die-cut from my stash (from a old CTK kit, Poolside Ephemera Pack/Crate Paper).
I actually like the soft colours of this one. the card paper is called "Aruba" and the card liner paper is the B-side of "Tropical Tango". And yes, another ruffle! I wont stop, I wont! Haha.
And there you have it. Super simple cards yet I think they're kinda cute.
Hope the start to your week has been a good one! I've survived the first few days although I start to hit that brick wall around the 3pm mark (helloooooooo coffeeee!).
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, Em xo
