The layout I put together for Marcy's latest class at SC, On The Grid, has finally gone live so thought I'd just swing by and share them here. Really enjoyed putting them together, grids are always so easy to work with. I ended up with 3 layouts at the end - only one made it to class but didn't want to share any until it was all finished :)
My challenge for this class was to create a grid using die-cut shapes, so first up its hearts!
Next up there were stars. Ahh, stars :)
Last layout was created using the die-cut flowers from the floral ephemera pack that came in Helmsley a few months back. This one was actually lots of fun :)
Again with the hidden journaling. I know... Ha!
Things have been a little crazy here . February always is like that though. Didn't get a heap of scrapping done but sometimes that's just how it goes :) Gearing up for the little man's 8th birthday in a couple weeks. EIGHT. EIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! I've said it before, but time is just going way too fast.
Hope your week is a fantastic one and thanks for stopping by!
First up, I'd like to say I'm so sorry for the lack of posting lately. Work is busy! I was hoping for a easy transition back to work but no such luck ;)
And secondly (and more importantly) I am up on the CT blog with my first tutorial! WOHOO! And yes, I'm a day late posting it here....
Not a ground breaking tutorial, BUT it was super fun and easy to put together - which are 2 words that make me happy when putting my pages together! I hope you'll pop over to check it out (and give it at try!).
Oh, here's the sneaky sneak - see the full layout on the blog!
I hope your week is an amazing one!
Thought I would share another layout using this month's Citrus Twist kit, Love Letters. This photo is from Zack's first day of Grade 2 last week. Grade 2 people! Ohmygawd. Feels like time is just flying by way too fast sometimes.
This one came together kind of easily. I had the idea of using the thicker words in my title again but didn't want it to be one word this time so I went to Pinterest and found a quote I liked (original source here). I love Pinterest. So much inspiration, every where you click. Rest of the layout was quite easy. Hand cut all the hearts and layered them under a piece of vellum. Cut the rest of the title using my Cameo, stitched it on top, added the thicker word and done!
I love the cork hearts (and arrows!) from this month's kit. I could seriously do with another dozen or so of just those to use forever more ;)
I am back at work tomorrow, boooooo. I really could do with another week (or two) of holidays ;) I hope you are enjoying your weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!
This month's kit from Citrus Twist, Love Letters, is gorgeous! Even with it being Valentine's this month, the kit is not overly pink, (just enough to keep me happy) and includes some gorgeous colour mixes in there for everyone and any kind of story, not just lovey dovey stuff ;)
I'm in love with the Dear Lizzy thickers included in the kit. Wasn't so sure on the rose gold fad when I first saw it coming out but I have to admit I'm quickly warming up to it. I've used these thickers on all my layouts so far, still working on a couple so not decided if I'll continue on all of them, but why not when they make doing a title so darn easy?! ;)
First layout to share from this month is this one:
Fairly neutral kind of layout this one (still managed to sneak some pink on there too, haha). And again I've got hidden journaling behind the photo. I've mentioned it before, but I really love doing this. Having the journaling hidden behind the photo lets me use a big photo and embellish without crowding the page with words. I try to always include the story with a layout, because the story really is important, but I'm OK with it not being center stage on my pages. Hidden behind the photo or even on the back of the page is perfectly fine with me. It's there and that's what counts :)
When I do it behind a photo or card on the page though I try to give little visual cues that there is some journaling on the page, so that when others look at the page (or when I'm old and forgetting things) they can see that there is something to lift up. In this case there are tags sitting on top of a heart. Hard to show in a photo but when I look at it I can see its not sitting right and that it indeed lifts up.
Hope you are having a great week. I'm enjoying these last few days before I'm back at work next week. My two weeks holiday has just flown by! Thanks for stopping by :)
