Holy moly I'm actually back posting on time! That in itself is a miracle ;)
Just want to stop by and share the next page I created using the CTK July kits. And I have to confess, this one was somewhat annoying to make haha. Not because of the gorgeous pieces I was using but because the technique was just awkward! Before I blabber on too much - here's my page!
The journaling is behind the photo, old favourite of mine ;)
OK so the funny story of how this one came together...
So I guess the technical name for those paper-rolly things is quilling. Do I actually know much about it? Uh, no, not at all. I just happened to roll up an off-cut piece of paper on my desk, liked the look of it, so thought it would be fun to do a page of them! (And I know it's a poor effort at quilling, really I feel odd calling it that, because in comparison to the real deal, it's just paper rolls ha!).
In hindsight I wouldn't say it was fun....it was interesting though and I like how it ended up. I actually re-did this layout 3 times before I ended up calling it done. The first time I thought it would be cool to have a half page of those paper rolls (so half white cardstock/half paper rolls) but after doing that, I didn't like it. Then I looked at all the pattern papers and thought it was very Paige Evans inspired (and you already know I'm a fan of Paige's!) which then got me thinking of a GIANT HEART! So I hand-cut a giant heart (I just used the double-sided adhesive paper from Silhouette) and started peeling off the paper rolls I'd already stuck down and put them on the heart shape. And incase you're curious, to roll the paper I just cut tiny strips and wrapped them around a pencil, then used craft tweezers to re-tension them once they were stuck down - no tricky tools for this chick.
Anyway, once I got the heart done I thought - well wouldn't it be fun to have glitter on the background?!! And instead of just trying it on a small section, I covered the whole lot in glitter.... Annnnnnnnnnnnd I hated it. Haha. #funnynotfunny
So I started from scratch again - took all the paper rolls off and stuck them on a new blank sticky heart. Some of the glitter actually stuck to the paper and you can see it on the finished page, so it wasn't like my second attempt was a complete waste of time, lol.
The rest of the layout came together kinda quickly after I'd spent so many hours doing (err re-doing) the paper roll background. I couldn't figure out where to put the journaling so I just added it behind the photo and used one of the die-cuts as the "hinge".
I'm in love with those pink foam Thickers from the Add-on kit. I know, no real surprise there, but seriously they are the cutest pink!
And that's my second page from the July kits shared! Wohoo!
Thanks for stopping by! Take care, Em xo
