This month Kellie released a couple of her popular clear stamps in digital format and they're awesome! I figured I'd try something a little different rather than a layout and made a poster print. SUPER EASY. A little messy but a whole lotta fun.
I used one of the stamps from the Coffee set because it's totally me. I love coffee. Always and forever :)
To make this you just need a few things:
1 - Your digital stamp! Obviously ;)
2 - Stencil template. And Silhouette to cut it with. Unless you have the patience of a saint and want to print then hand-cut your own stencil. I used cardstock for this attempt but vinyl would probably be better.
3 - Canvas or thick paper to paint onto. I used a cheap 8x10 canvas panel thingy (technical term lol- only cost me $5 or something like that)
4 - Your medium. The messy part. I used modelling paste and acrylic paint mixed together but you could just paint it if you wanted. I wanted a bit more texture which the modelling paste added!
5 - Something to mix your paint/paste together (if you're using the 2) and a brush to paint with.
Once you've got all your bits together the rest is easy to do. Just put the stencil over your canvas, I used washi tape to hold it in place then went to town painting it. No style to applying the paint/paste, I just slathered it on so it was all covered :)
As I mentioned earlier, I think a vinyl stencil might have helped stop the "bleeding" I ended up with on some of the letters (because I really did go to town with the paste/paint on the template, haha) but I don't mind how it looks!
I've put my canvas in an inexpensive white frame to finish it off, but you could leave it as is too!
I've put this one up on my shelf that sits above my computer and I love it! Fits in perfectly.
Also had some fun with the cross out of the Rad set. Used neon pink paint on this one though it's turned out awesome. Not sure what I'm doing with this canvas as yet but I had so much fun making it, I don't really care haha.
And that's it! Easy right?! Give it a try! And let me know so I can see :)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, Em xo
I completely missed the reveal day for Kellie's new stamps...hopeless I know! Unfortunately I've not had alot of time to sit down and play with the cameo BUT I did get a brilliant idea (lol) when I saw her Christmas set, Magic! I love the "merry & bright" stamp, it jumped out at me straight away and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Bit of a back story.....but...this year for some crazy reason I decided to set up 2 trees. There's the main "Santa delivers here" tree (which I'll share later for another project, ha!) then there is this little one out the back of the house that I set up. It's near the back door to the house so not many people will see it but it's kinda cute at night time with the lights on. Just went with plain silver over the tree but I really wanted something to jazz up the mantle a little.
Cue my brilliant idea to try string art, completely inspired by Pinterest of course. I have to admit, my initial plan was to do the whole thing as string art but man, there were sooooo many nails and I got confused what went where so it was not pretty. Rather than veto the whole idea I did boot up my trusty little Cameo, cut the words out of vinyl and went with string art for the "&" symbol! Ding ding, winnnnner! Check it out!! ;)
And some obligatory close up shots so you can see the details :)
I'm not that good at the DIY stuff generally speaking but I'm really happy how it turned out, I think its just a tad bit cute :)
The vinyl I used I actually took from work (yes, I got permission from the boss lol) - its a chrome finish and although it like it, it's a pain to use haha. Scratches sooooo easily, you can see them all in the close ups but from a distance it's fine, so that's all that matters :)
I like the pop of orange with all the silver and white in the room! PS - Photographing the chrome is painful too. Reflects everything ;)
And that's all I've managed so far... Totally slacking I know.
Kellie went above and beyond with this month's release, seriously. Check these out (click image to go straight to her store and see them better!):
Awesome or what?!
Well that's it for me today. OH! Some good news. Dad is home! WOHOO! Got the news this morning so mum was straight into the car and driving down to pick him up and take him away before they changed their minds again lol. Thank you so much for the messages/thoughts/prayers - we (my family and I) really, REALLY appreciate it - he's home now, so all those good vibes obviously worked! ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care, Em xo
So I have to admit, Kellie completely messed with my head this month by releasing her November stamps today instead of on the 1st! Keep feeling like I'm way behind and missed the deadline lol.
The first set of this month's release is all about summer which is a good thing considering the set is called Summer of 2016. ;) Looky-see!!
And as usual, sharing layouts in the order they were made :)
First up I used the "love it" stamp to create a pattern on white cardstock. It's really hard to see in the photographs, but I actually printed it using my laser printer then I used the Minc and foiled it in rose gold!!!!!
And naturally, once I'd foiled that I couldn't just stop there. Oh, no, no! I just had to do the heart and the title too. Loving the little Minc. But I digress ;)
For my next layout I used the "SUMMER" stamp and created a cut file for the Cameo. I have to admit this one was just a little tedious because the cut file is intricate (well the size I cut for my page is) but I absolutely LOVE this background. Just took me ages to stick it down in place haha.
So remember me talking about foiling things earlier? I have decided that the Minc + Kellie's Stamps = PERFECT TITLES! Check these babies out:
Ahhh!! Yayyyy! Aren't they pretty?!! Here's more shots of the same at different angles because honestly....YAYYYY!
They're just so pretty in person. Planning to print/cut lots more (and foil in all kinds of colours) so I can have them ready to go for the upcoming summer layouts I'm bound to make :)
And that's it for today! What's your favourite from this month's release? Would love to hear (and see - link me up!!!) how you've been using some of Kellie's Stamps!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care! Em xo
